Want to make a real difference in Edmonton while building skills, community, and connections along the way? interVivos is recruiting volunteer board members to help advance our mission in the Edmonton region, and we’d love to hear from you.
Why join?
interVivos is a small non-profit with no staff, which means board members don’t just advise. We make things happen. If you’re energized by collaboration, community impact, and rolling up your sleeves, this is a meaningful way to contribute your time and talent.
As a board member, you’ll help strengthen an organization that believes in a generation of inspired and informed leaders, and you’ll be part of a team that cares deeply about mentorship, connection, and community-building.
Immediate openings: key governance roles
We have immediate openings for two essential positions that keep the organization running smoothly:
Board Secretary: supports effective board operations, records, and meeting coordination
Board Treasurer: supports financial oversight, reporting, and governance
We’re also looking for board members with experience in:
Communications
Strategic planning
Community engagement
Fund development
If you have experience, or strong interest, in any of these areas, your perspective could make a big difference.
Our commitment to inclusion
We are committed to building a board that reflects the diversity of our community and welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and perspectives. If you care about mentorship and community impact, we encourage you to apply, even if this is your first board role.
What the commitment looks like
Volunteer board members support a variety of administrative and governance tasks to keep interVivos moving forward. The role includes:
Virtual bi-monthly board meetings
Virtual bi-weekly working sessions
In-person special events and other ad hoc activities, mostly evenings and weekends
You’ll also be an interVivos ambassador, someone who believes in our vision and helps bring it to life.
What past board members say
A former board member described her experience this way:
“I learned valuable lessons during my time with the board. My understanding of board governance and board accountability developed substantially. I also had the opportunity to meet an incredible number of people and my network grew. I attribute this to the array of topics and professional paths that intersect at this organization. I was given many chances to try so many new roles and responsibilities. I am so grateful to interVivos and its board members for new friendships, many laughs and diverse experiences.”
Board term
Board members are expected to complete a two-year term after a successful three-month trial period. This is an unpaid volunteer position.
